“Ballet 5:8 has triumphed again. The expressions of each love gave life and physical form to their abstract nature.”

-KJ Johnson, Director, C.S. Lewis Institute, Chicago

Golden Sessions, choreographed by Julianna Rubio Slager, is a ballet inspired by C.S. Lewis’s The Four Loves, which explores the nature and complexities of love in its various forms—affection, friendship, romantic love, and divine love. Through a blend of contemporary and classical ballet, Slager delves into each of these aspects, capturing the nuances and tensions that arise in human relationships. Each movement of the ballet reflects a different “love,” examining the ways these bonds shape us, challenge us, and ultimately transform our understanding of connection and purpose. With its rich emotional depth and expressive choreography, Golden Sessions offers an introspective and evocative portrayal of love’s multifaceted power.
