Julianna Rubio Slager, an influential choreographer, educator, and co-founder of Ballet 5:8, serves as the Resident Choreographer and Artistic Director, a role she began in 2012. Under her direction, Ballet 5:8 developed a diverse and original repertoire of over 50 works, blending contemporary storytelling with classical ballet traditions. Her work elevated Ballet 5:8 to national prominence, leading to performances across 17 states and a residency at the Harris Theater in Chicago.

In addition to her extensive choreographic achievements, Julianna actively teaches and mentors in ballet, known for an innovative approach to dance education that integrates Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) into the ballet classroom. She taught at esteemed institutions, including the Colorado Ballet Society, Belhaven University, Ballet Center of Houston, Texas Christian University, Ballet California, Project Ballet, and the Grand Rapids Ballet School.
